Have we forgotten how to tarry?

Not just wait. Not just pass time. But linger.

To stay. To press in. To kneel down and say,

“God, I’m not moving until You speak. I’m not rushing what You’re doing. I’m right here... and I believe You’ll meet me.”

In a world that rushes everything — fast food, fast scrolls, fast answers — it feels almost radical to slow down and just be with God.

But tarrying… oh, friend…

Tarrying is where the fire falls.

Tarrying is where the heart gets soft.

Tarrying is where heaven meets earth.

What Does It Mean to Tarry?

To tarry means to stay longer than expected.

To remain, to linger, to wait — with expectation.

It's not passive. It’s not giving God 5 minutes and moving on.

It’s settling in — in faith — because we know He’s worth the wait.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

— Psalm 27:14

The Lord of All Creation Will Do GOOD for You!!!!!

Here’s the truth that breathes life into every moment we linger:

The Lord of all creation is GOOD.

He will do good for you. He will only ever do good for you.

Because He is good. Always. Without exception.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”

— Lamentations 3:25

He’s not withholding from you. He’s preparing something better than you expected — for His name, for His glory, and yes — for your good.

“No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

— Psalm 84:11

He won’t forget you.

He’s not late.

He’s working even when it’s quiet.

And while we wait — He’s building trust, depth, and dependency in us.

We are not wasting time in the waiting room of heaven.

We are being changed by it.

BUT the Darkness Can’t Tarry!!!!!!

Here’s the wild part:

The enemy of your soul wants you to believe the waiting is wasted.

He whispers lies in the silence. He makes noise in the stillness.

But one thing is absolutely true:

The darkness cannot tarry.

It doesn’t get to stay. It doesn’t have permission to remain.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

— John 1:5

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

— Psalm 30:5

The pain, the confusion, the spiritual heaviness — it has an expiration date.

But God? He’s eternal. He’s unfailing. He’s worth waiting for.

So How Do We Tarry?

Here’s how we return to the practice of expectant lingering:

✨ Turn off distractions. Your soul is starving for silence more than your phone is begging for your attention.

✨ Open the Word slowly. Not to get through a chapter. To be with a Person.

✨ Worship when it’s quiet. Even if it’s a whisper. Even if you don’t “feel” it yet.

✨ Ask bold things in prayer. Expect your Father to respond in His perfect love and timing.

✨ Sit in the silence. Because God speaks in stillness more often than in the storm.

He Will Come. He Always Does.

There has never been a moment God didn’t show up for His people.

He may not come in the way you expect.

He may not answer in the timeline you planned.

But He will come — in power, in love, in goodness — because it’s who He is.

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time… Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.”

— Habakkuk 2:3

So don’t rush the tarrying.

There’s gold in the stillness.

There’s fire in the waiting.

And there is always, always, a God who meets those who wait with open hands and expectant hearts.

Friend, if you’re in a season where everything feels slow, still, or silent — lean in.

Don’t run. Don’t give up. Don’t rush past the waiting.

Linger.

Tarry.

Because you’re not just waiting for a breakthrough — you’re waiting with a Person.

And the One you’re waiting for is faithful, mighty, and madly in love with you.

He will only always do good.

For His name, His honor, His glory, His Kingdom —

and because you’re His child.
