Our Beliefs

At WordsbyLG we believe...

As a nondenominational Christian community, we stand firmly upon the teachings of the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God. Our beliefs center on the core truths of the Christian faith, which unite us across denominations and traditions. We believe in the Trinity—that God exists as three distinct persons, yet one divine essence: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. This profound mystery of God’s nature is central to our understanding of His relationship with humanity and the world.

  • Matthew 28:19 – "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

At the heart of our faith is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus, fully God and fully man, came to earth to fulfill God's perfect plan of salvation. He lived a sinless life, taught us how to love God and others, and, ultimately, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. Through His death, He bore the weight of our sin and separated us from the consequences of death and eternal separation from God. But Jesus did not remain in the grave. He rose again on the third day, conquering sin and death, and through His resurrection, He offers us the hope of eternal life with God.

  • Romans 5:8 – "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

  • 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 – "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures."

Jesus is not just a way to God; He is the One True Way. We believe, as Scripture teaches, that no one can come to the Father except through Him. Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved. This truth is at the core of our faith and is the foundation for our mission to share the good news with the world.

  • John 14:6 – "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

  • Acts 4:12 – "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

We also recognize the importance of living out our faith in community, supporting one another in prayer, fellowship, and service. As believers, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, who guides us, convicts us, and equips us to live according to God’s will. The Holy Spirit enables us to grow in holiness and to bear fruit that brings glory to God and reflects His love to the world around us.

  • John 14:26 – "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."

  • Galatians 5:22-23 – "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

Our Commitment to Truth and Love

As a community that is rooted in the truth of God’s Word, we are committed to speaking the truth with boldness and compassion. We recognize that the truth of Jesus Christ, though transformative and life-giving, can also be difficult to hear. His message often confronts the ways of the world and challenges deeply held beliefs that stand in opposition to the Kingdom of God. While we approach others with love, grace, and humility, we are never willing to compromise the truth that Jesus is the only way to salvation.

  • Ephesians 4:15 – "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ."

  • John 15:18-19 – "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."

The truth of Jesus is not just a set of doctrines; it is a person, and it is through Him that we find meaning, purpose, and life. We believe that His teachings are the foundation of all moral and spiritual truth. Because of this, we are not afraid to speak boldly about sin, repentance, and the need for salvation through Jesus alone, even when it may be uncomfortable or offensive to those who reject His truth. We understand that the truth of the Gospel may convict, challenge, or even offend people, but we also know that it is the only truth that can set people free from sin and eternal separation from God.

  • John 8:32 – "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

  • 2 Timothy 4:2 – "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching."

At the same time, we are committed to speaking this truth with the love and gentleness of the Holy Spirit. We do not share God’s truth in a spirit of condemnation but with the desire for reconciliation and healing. We strive to model the love of Christ in our words and actions, acknowledging that every person is made in the image of God and deeply loved by Him. Our mission is not to win arguments but to win souls—leading others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

  • 1 Peter 3:15 – "But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect."

  • Matthew 5:44 – "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

We believe that when we speak the truth in love, it is the Holy Spirit who will work in people’s hearts, convicting them of their need for a Savior and drawing them closer to God. Our role is simply to be faithful witnesses of the truth, trusting that God will bring the increase in His perfect timing.

  • 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 – "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth."

Ultimately, we understand that the truth of Jesus is the way—the only way to know God and experience true peace, joy, and fulfillment. While this truth may not always be well received, we are unashamed of it and are committed to proclaiming it, not just in words but in the way we live our lives. We pray that our community would always reflect the grace and truth of Jesus, drawing others to Him by the way we love, serve, and share His message with the world.

  • Romans 1:16 – "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

  • John 14:6 – "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

The Power of Prayer

We believe in the power of prayer—it is one of the most important ways we communicate with God, seek His guidance, and receive His strength. Prayer is not only a time to ask for God's help but also an opportunity to praise Him, confess our sins, and express our gratitude for His blessings. As a community, we are committed to lifting each other up in prayer, believing that God hears and answers the prayers of His people.

We trust that through prayer, God can bring about transformation in our lives, heal brokenness, provide comfort in times of sorrow, and give us wisdom to navigate life’s challenges. Jesus taught us to pray persistently, to trust that our Heavenly Father cares for us, and to bring our needs before Him with confidence.

  • Philippians 4:6-7 – "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

  • Matthew 7:7-8 – "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

We encourage anyone in need of prayer to reach out to us. Whether you're facing a difficult situation, feeling discouraged, or simply need someone to stand with you in faith, we are here to pray with you. Prayer is a powerful tool, and we believe that God moves in mighty ways when His people come together in prayer. Our hearts are open to support you, and we are honored to pray for your needs, knowing that God is faithful to answer according to His will and perfect timing.

  • James 5:16 – "Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

  • 1 John 5:14-15 – "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him."

If you need prayer or would like to share your request with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We believe that through prayer, we can strengthen one another and experience the peace and presence of God in every circumstance.
