Are you hungry? No, I'm not just asking this since there is a picture of bread and wine above this post. It goes much deeper than this. You know that feeling when you’ve just finished a big meal, and you’re still kind of rummaging through the pantry or peeking in the fridge, thinking, "Hmm... maybe there’s something else I could eat?" You’ve had enough, but somehow, you’re still looking for something more. Well, that’s kind of like what it feels like when we’re hungry for Jesus!
In John 6:35, Jesus says, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." Isn’t that amazing? It's like He's saying, "You can look in the pantry of life all you want, but I’m the only thing that will truly fill you up!" Just like physical food fills our stomachs, we have this deep, spiritual hunger inside of us that only Jesus can truly satisfy.
And here’s the best part—when we hunger for Him, it’s not like food that just fills us for a moment and then we’re off looking for more. Jesus fills us up in a way that lasts, in a way nothing else in the world can! He’s like the ultimate snack for the soul, and the more we seek Him, the more He fills us up with peace, joy, and love. And He will literally make that OVERFLOW!!!
1 Peter 2:2-3 “cry out for this nourishment now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness!”
We CRY out for the nourishment that you bring , Jesus! You are our nourishment! We cry out for You!
When we eat bread, it nourishes us for a time, but eventually, we get hungry again. But with Jesus, when we seek Him and receive Him into our lives, He fills us in a way that’s lasting. He’s not just a quick snack—He’s the Bread of Life, the only thing that can truly satisfy our deepest longings. And unlike that moment when you’re still searching the kitchen for something more after dinner, with Jesus, you’ll never be left wanting more. He fills us to the brim, and He’s always there to meet our need.
So, just like bread sustains us physically, Jesus sustains us spiritually, giving us the nourishment we need to thrive, to grow, and to experience true contentment. He’s the perfect, satisfying "meal" for the soul, and once we take Him in, we’re filled completely—no more searching in the fridge for something else!
Matthew 6:11 "give us this day our daily bread"!!!
Jesus blessed the crowd with 7 loaves of bread. There are 7 days in a week. He is our DAILY BREAD!!!!
Our bread in the U.S. is filled with preservatives that are toxic. In the United States, the bread many of us consume today is laden with preservatives and artificial chemicals designed to prolong its shelf life. These additives—such as calcium propionate and potassium sorbate—may seem harmless, but in truth, they can be harmful to our bodies over time. The preservatives in commercial bread are foreign substances that may disrupt our health.
This is just like how the enemy talks to us! He uses toxic additives to destroy our joy! He lies to us and runs after us with the lies!
Good bread- Fresh bread you have to seek daily you have to go get new bread everyday. It’ll get moldy if you don’t. You need it new everyday. You have to get fresh bread everyday!
Some people live off moldy bread!
They’re living off an encounter they had years ago. They are not actively seeking the Bread of Life!
Read 1 Corinthians 11:20-32… "Let me go over with you again exactly what goes on in the Lord’s Supper and why it is so centrally important. I received my instructions from the Master himself and passed them on to you. The Master, Jesus, on the night of his betrayal, took bread. Having given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, broken for you. Do this to remember me. After supper, he did the same thing with the cup: This cup is my blood, my new covenant with you. Each time you drink this cup, remember me.
What you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink this cup, you reenact in your words and actions the death of the Master. You will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the Master returns. You must never let familiarity breed contempt.
Anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Master irreverently is like part of the crowd that jeered and spit on him at his death. Is that the kind of “remembrance” you want to be part of? Examine your motives, test your heart, come to this meal in holy awe. If you give no thought (or worse, don’t care) about the broken body of the Master when you eat and drink, you’re running the risk of serious consequences. That’s why so many of you even now are listless and sick, and others have gone to an early grave. If we get this straight now, we won’t have to be straightened out later on. Better to be confronted by the Master now than to face a fiery confrontation later."
His BODY, broken for us! Can we take a moment to think about that? He was beaten, scourged, and mocked, His body wounded and bruised from the cruel treatment. He was crowned with thorns, which caused bleeding and pain, and then made to carry the heavy cross through the streets to His crucifixion. Once at the cross, He was nailed through His hands and feet, a form of execution that caused immense agony. As He hung on the cross, He was unable to breathe easily, experiencing the excruciating effects of suffocation. After His death, a soldier pierced His side, further confirming His sacrifice.
Luke 22:19 "This is my body, which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me"
And His body was GIVEN for us!!!
This statement is rich in meaning and points directly to the specific purpose of His life, death, and sacrifice for humanity. First, Jesus refers to His body in the present tense, symbolizing His imminent sacrifice. At the time He speaks these words, He is about to undergo betrayal, arrest, trial, crucifixion, and death. The "body" He speaks of is the physical vessel that will soon endure suffering on the cross. In saying, "which is given for you," Jesus is making it clear that His body is being offered willingly for the benefit of those who believe in Him. It is not taken from Him by force but is freely given in love as an atoning sacrifice. Jesus' body, broken and bruised, would bear the weight of humanity's sin, fulfilling the prophecy that the Messiah would be wounded for our transgressions (Isaiah 53:5). His body would be broken on the cross, enduring intense physical suffering and pain, and ultimately, He would die in place of sinful humanity. This sacrificial act would open the way for forgiveness and reconciliation with God, as His sacrifice would take upon itself the punishment that humanity deserved for sin.
Oh how we thank You Jesus for enduring absolute pain and suffering for us!
“Do this in remembrance of Me” is a fresh reminder for everyday that’s a continuation of where it doesn’t get stale or get old.
TYJ that He is our portion! Everlasting daily bread!
Just as the manna fell from heaven... Lord fall upon us! Let Your Holy Spirit fall upon us + let it rest upon us, too! This space is Yours! All we are + all we have is Yours and Yours alone!
🍞Jesus is the bread of life!
We have to feast upon Him daily! He’s the meal!
The whole Lamb! The whole Christ!
So... come and feast on the bread that will forever satisfy!!!
